Beyond Asset Gathering: Why Institutional Investors Should Look at Specialty Insurance
Accessibility
In Alternative Credit Investor, Dan Adams, Managing Director, Arrow Global Insurance, argues that institutional investors active in private credit should look again at specialty insurance.
In his article, Beyond Asset Gathering: Why Institutional Investors Should Look at Specialty Insurance, Dan explains why the convergence of private credit and insurance should not only be viewed through the lens of asset gathering, permanent capital and AUM growth. In specialty, non-catastrophe insurance markets, he argues, the opportunity lies in underwriting expertise, disciplined risk selection and the ability to structure complex risks that traditional markets often underserve.
“The objective is not simply to accumulate liabilities in order to invest the float. The objective is to own and control the underwriting economics of specialist risk, supported by appropriate capital, governance and investment management.”
The article examines why fragmented European specialty insurance markets, including the growing MGA ecosystem, may offer institutional investors a differentiated complement to traditional private credit exposure.
